Nestled along Lake Michigan’s west shore, Milwaukee is the largest city in the state of Wisconsin, ranking 31st in the entire United States. About 600,000 people live here, along with being home to 4 major professional sports teams, including the Brewers & Bucks.

Milwaukee was incorporated as a city in 1846. At the same time, the area was growing with its first large wave of primarily German immigrants coming to Wisconsin in search of inexpensive farmland. Milwaukee’s German influence remains strong today, especially considering the large number of breweries throughout the city. Milwaukee hosts an annual German Fest each July and an Oktoberfest in the fall. Since the 1980s, the city has been working hard to improve its economy and neighborhoods. Such parts of town as the Historic Third Ward, Lincoln Village, Walker’s Point, and Bay View have seen major revitalization in recent years.
